AgustaWestland is pleased to announce that Synergy Aerospace, a division of Synergy Group, has signed a contract for ten additional helicopters comprising four AW109 Power and four Grand light twin and two AW139 medium twin turbine engine models. The contract is valued at approximately US$ 72 million ( 49 million). This latest order is part of the framework of the multi-year contract and distribution agreement signed in July 2006 which agreed the acquisition of 56 helicopters. This latest purchase is additional to the 30 helicopters already ordered by Synergy Aerospace. The helicopters will be used primarily for VIP/corporate and offshore transport and will be produced at AgustaWestland’s production facilities in Philadelphia, USA and Vergiate, Italy.

Renzo Lunardi, Senior Vice President Commercial Business Unit, AgustaWestland, said “Our presence in the Brazilian commercial helicopter market has dramatically grown in recent years and our alliance with Synergy Aerospace has played a major role to achieve such results. This latest order ensures that future operators of AgustaWestland helicopters in Brazil will receive attractive delivery positions and a level of service that is second-to-none for the entire range of our competitive products.”

The AW109 Power is a highly versatile twin engine helicopter that is used for commercial and public service missions and has exceptional levels of performance with low operating costs. A new intermediate size helicopter with light twin economics developed to meet a variety of market requirements, the Grand provides levels of cabin space and payload that until now could only be met by larger, more expensive helicopters. The AW139 is a new generation medium twin helicopter setting new standards against which all new medium twins are measured.

Orders for over 80 AgustaWestland helicopters from the entire commercial helicopter range have been placed in Brazil so far. Particularly, AgustaWestland’s light twins are the leaders in the Brazilian helicopter market representing a market share of around 70% of the light twin fleet. The AW119 Ke single engine and the AW139 medium twin are playing a remarkably increasing role as well. AgustaWestland do Brazil, an AgustaWestland company, supports the Brazilian fleet through its Service Centre in Sao Paulo and through Ultra-Rev, an Authorised Service Centre in Rio de Janeiro. AgustaWestland Philadelphia is responsible for sales, assembly, customization and support of the AW119 Ke, AW109 Power, Grand and AW139 product lines throughout the Americas.
