Eve Urban Air Mobility Solutions is partnering with Beacon to use its maintenance coordination platform, designed to accelerate the return to service of aircraft that are down for unscheduled maintenance issues.
Beacon was incubated by Embraer’s market accelerator, EmbraerX — the same organization that kick-started Eve as a developer of eVTOL air taxis. According to a press release, Beacon provides a platform that connects and synchronizes industry resources, the aftermarket supply chain, and aviation services professionals, and is accessible via web and mobile (iOS and Android) applications.
Beacon recently announced other agreements with ABS Jets and The Mobile Repair Team. Beacon claims to have had concluded over 35,000 unscheduled cases by more than 1,000 users as of April 2021, and said it expects those numbers to grow as the aviation industry rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Francisco Gomes Neto, president and CEO of Embraer, “This initiative highlights an important pillar of our strategic plan as it reinforces the relevance of innovation and diversification for the company’s sustainable growth.” Eve is also working with another Embraer subsidiary, Atech, to provide urban air traffic management services at scale.
Eve said such partnerships contribute to its unique value proposition as an “ecosystem partner . . . offering a comprehensive suite of products and services” for urban air mobility. In the past month, Eve has announced orders for its air taxis from Directional Aviation and Helisul, plus partnerships with flight booking service providers Ascent in the Asia-Pacific market and Blade Air Mobility in Florida and on the West Coast of the U.S. Eve also announced an infrastructure partnership with Skyports in Asia and the Americas.
The company is in talks to go public through a merger with the special purpose acquisition company Zanite Acquisition Corp (Nasdaq: ZNTE), which is led by Directional Aviation principal Kenn Ricci.
