A Bristow search-and-rescue Sikorsky S-92 has crashed into the sea off the coast of Norway during a training flight, the operator has confirmed. The aircraft was carrying six passengers, including two pilots. One fatality has been confirmed, while Bristow said the other five crew members have received “varying levels of injuries.”

“The aircraft, which is contracted to a civilian customer, was conducting a training exercise at the time of the accident,” a statement from Bristow said. “The company is in the process of contacting and providing assistance to family members of those onboard and fully cooperating with authorities responding to the incident. Our highest priority is to take care of our crew and their family members and provide them with any assistance needed.”

The accident happened at 19:40 local time about nine nautical miles west of Bergen, Norway, and the aircraft involved had the registration LN-OIJ.

“We are aware of the incident and stand ready to support the investigative authorities and our customer,” Sikorsky said in a statement. “Safety is our top priority.”

On X, the Norwegian Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said a Royal Norwegian Air Force Leonardo AW101 SAR Queen had rescued the six involved in the crash and transported them the Haukeland hospital in Bergen.
