One year after launch, eVTOL.com has joined the world’s most prestigious aviation publications on the shortlist for the 2020 Aerospace Media Awards.
eVTOL.com managing editor Elan Head has been selected as a finalist in the Bill Gunston Technology Writer of the Year Award category for her work on the site, which went live in June 2019. She is also shortlisted in the Best Rotorcraft Submission category for her story on the Kobe Bryant helicopter crash in eVTOL.com sister publication Vertical Magazine. She is a previous winner of the Best Safety, Training & Simulation Submission Award.
Other publications represented on the technology category shortlist include Aviation Week & Space Technology, Business & Commercial Aviation, and C4ISRNET. The awards, originally scheduled to coincide with the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), will instead be presented online the week of July 20 due to the cancellation of FIA because of COVID-19.
“When we launched eVTOL.com, our goal was to cut through the hype of the eVTOL and urban air mobility space with insightful, objective coverage of this emerging market,” said MHM Publishing owner Mike Reyno. “This recognition confirms that we’re on the right track. We’re honored to be in the company of legacy publications like Aviation Week, which have done so much to shape the course of the aerospace industry.”
Since launching a year ago, eVTOL.com has published more than 300 articles and attracted over 160,000 unique users — a testament to the tremendous activity and interest in the eVTOL space. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, traffic to the site has increased steadily, reaching a record number of page views in May, as the eVTOL industry continues to innovate and advance in these challenging times.
“COVID-19 will undoubtedly impact many players in the eVTOL market, but we haven’t seen any evidence that it’s slowing the industry’s overall momentum,” said Reyno. “As we move into our second year, we’re excited to see what new aircraft and innovations lie in store for our growing audience.”
