Job Description

Yellowhead Helicopters is currently seeking applications for licensed helicopter pilots for both full-time and seasonal summer contract positions.  These positions would be operationally controlled out of the company’s Prince George, British Columbia, facility and will require travel to various work locations across Canada including locations in remote Northern B.C.

Position Overview

Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd. is looking for pool pilots that are experienced in at least one of the following areas: mineral exploration, seismic, or utility work. Reporting directly to the chief pilot and director of operations, these are full time or seasonal summer positions, which are available immediately. Postings will be flexible for residing location; however there is additional incentive offered for pilots willing to relocate to Prince George.

Experience required:

For all positions, pilot must hold a Canadian commercial pilot license CPL (H); have endorsement on aircraft; valid Class 1 medical; strong understanding of the Canadian Air Regulations, excellent communication skills; ability to follow documented policies and procedures including pre-employment drug and alcohol test; and appropriate skills and experience listed by type below. Applicant must not have any criminal convictions that would restrict a foreign work visa. Language of work: English

Intermediates

  • 2,000 hours minimum helicopter PIC
  • Precision longline or Utilities experience an asset
  • Mountain experience required

Bell Medium BH212

  • 2,000 hours minimum helicopter PIC
  • Precision longline experience an asset
  • Mountain experience required
  • Heli-ski experience considered an asset
  • Bell 206 or Intermediate experience considered an asset

BK117 Twin Engine

  • 500 hours minimum twin engine helicopter PIC; 100 hours on type preferable
  • Precision longline or Utilities experience an asset
  • Mountain experience required
  • Medium or Intermediate experience considered an asset

Job Duties

  • As a YHL Pilot you will be expected to uphold the professional image of the company by keeping your helicopter and company vehicles in clean condition and conducting yourself in a professional manner.
  • Responsible to complete the daily inspection prior to each flight assignment
  • Check suitability of the weather prior to each flight assignment. This may be carried out online or on the phone
  • Responsible to clean the aircraft and conduct a pre-flight inspection (daily inspection or “DI”) of the aircraft after each day’s flight assignment and to secure the aircraft at the end of each day (i.e. tie-down, covers, etc.)
  • Meet and communicate with the customer each morning regarding the day’s flight assignments and may also be required to be formal customer liaison at other times
  • Prior to each flight ensure that the aircraft is ready to fly and is suitably-equipped for the mission (i.e. sling gear, water bucket, nets, etc.)
  • May be required to drop crews in the field and return to camp or remain in the field with the crews between flights.
  • Complete paperwork after each day’s flying assignment including journey log entries, flight tickets, pilot work record, tracking paperwork, communicate with engineer or with the base with respect to anomalous operations and running aircraft times
  • Carry out other duties assigned
