The British Columbia government has granted approval to North Shore Rescue and Talon Helicopters to use night vision goggles in a new pilot project — the first of its kind in Canada for volunteer search-and-rescue groups. North Shore Rescue volunteers respond to approximately 130 incidents per year, and 37 percent of its requests involve “light-compressed” or night operations.
