A new video from Leonardo discusses ways to prevent and recover from loss of control in-flight (LOC-I). The video presents a simulated scenario in which a pilot is flying an AW189 helicopter at night with autopilot flight director modes engaged. Unexpectedly, the traffic alert and collision avoidance system alerts the pilot to the presence of traffic. The pilot reacts by disengaging the flight director modes and reverting to manual flight, setting the stage for spatial disorientation and possible loss of control.
