VAI praises FAA’s action to move ahead on advanced air mobility

Vertical Aviation International Press Release | October 22, 2024

Estimated reading time 1 minute, 45 seconds.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a final rule for the qualifications, training, and operational requirements for pilots and instructors flying powered-lift aircraft, which combine characteristics of airplanes and helicopters.

This rule is a key step toward advanced air mobility (AAM) operations, which include air taxis and cargo delivery, becoming a reality in the US National Airspace System.

In response, Vertical Aviation International (VAI) released the following statement:

“VAI members are making AAM happen,” said Cade Clark, VAI’s chief government affairs officer.

“We applaud the FAA for releasing the Special Federal Aviation Regulation that provides the necessary framework and requirements for the safe integration of these exciting new aircraft. We appreciate the FAA engaging with so many AAM stakeholders to make today’s rule release a reality.”

Once the VAI staff has reviewed the 800-plus-page rule, a VAI Debrief summarizing the rule’s provisions will be provided to association members.

This press release was prepared and distributed by Vertical Aviation International.
