Estimated reading time 3 minutes, 3 seconds.

Sora Aviation, the UK-based developer of the 30-seat S-1 eVTOL aircraft, has secured a pre-order for 20 aircraft from Moviation, a leading Korean helicopter operator.

Sora and Moviation also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore the deployment of the S-1 aircraft in South Korea, beginning with three key routes:

  • Jamsil Heliport to Incheon Airport
  • Yeouido financial district to Incheon Airport
  • Jamsil Heliport to Sejong City, Korea’s planned administrative capital

Moviation currently operates Jamsil Heliport, a critical hub for air mobility in Seoul, making it an ideal launch point for future S-1 operations in Seoul.

South Korea presents a prime opportunity for eVTOL adoption with dense urban centres and strong government support for urban air mobility. The S-1’s high passenger capacity and lower cost per seat make it an ideal solution for the Korean market, offering a fast, affordable and sustainable solution to heavy road traffic congestion.

“We are thrilled to partner with Moviation to bring efficient, scalable eVTOL services to South Korea,” said Furqan, CEO of Sora Aviation. “The S-1 is designed not just for efficiency, but also to ensure that urban air mobility is truly accessible to more people — not just a luxury service. This pre-order underscores the demand for higher capacity eVTOLs that can deliver equitable access to air mobility.”

Moviation aims to integrate the S-1 into its existing helicopter operations, increasing passenger capacity while significantly reducing per-seat costs. The partnership aligns with South Korea’s ambitious urban air mobility roadmap, positioning both companies at the forefront of future air mobility.

Moviation CEO Min Shin added, “As South Korea accelerates its transition to urban air mobility, we see the S-1 as a game-changer. Its larger capacity and lower operating costs per passenger compared to helicopters and smaller eVTOLs make it an ideal fit for high-demand routes like Jamsil to Incheon. This partnership is a crucial step toward making air mobility more accessible and practical for a wider range of passengers.”
