PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company, has completed production and delivered the final two contracted S-70i Black Hawk multi-role helicopters for the Polish Armed Forces.
These deliveries conclude the contract for four aircraft signed in December 2021.
“This delivery of the last two contracted Black Hawk helicopters brings the Polish Armed Force’s fleet to eight aircraft, which will significantly enhance their operational capabilities and increase the country’s security,” said Janusz Zakręcki, PZL president, general director.
“We look forward to continue working with the Ministry of Defense in sustaining the fleet to support the Polish Armed Force’s important operational missions.”
PZL Mielec produced S-70 Black Hawk helicopters share the same pedigree as UH-60M Black Hawks and are designed to excel in the most challenging operational environments.
The aircraft’s proven versatility and reliability was demonstrated during the response to recent floods in southern Poland.
Leveraging advanced technologies and a robust design, these Black Hawk helicopters significantly enhanced rescue efforts in the region and transported vital equipment and personnel.
PZL Mielec is one of Poland’s largest aircraft manufacturers, as well as Lockheed Martin’s largest manufacturing facility outside the United States. Since 2010, the company has delivered helicopters to 18 customers from 11 countries around the world.
PZL Mielec has also produced more than 670 cabins and 590 cones and pylons for Black Hawk helicopters. Since 2022, the company has also produced major components for the global F-16 Block 70/72 program – the rear and central fuselage structure, as well as the cockpit structure and its side panels with the front compartment.
Black Hawk in the Polish Armed Forces
Over the past six years, PZL Mielec has made deliveries to the Polish Armed Forces under two contracts. The first, for the delivery of four helicopters for the Polish military, PZL Mielec signed with the Ministry of Defense in January 2019. The four helicopters in the aforementioned contract were delivered on time and in the configuration specified by the Polish Ministry of Defense.
