Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters, the world’s largest and most experienced helicopter tour company, receives two Diamond Awards from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for excellence in maintenance and safety.
Established in 1991, the Diamond Awards are the highest aviation honor in the aircraft maintenance industry. To qualify for the award, 100 percent of an organization’s eligible maintenance technicians must complete specialized, continuous training in regulations and aircraft systems over a 12-month period.
Papillon received the Diamond Awards for its Part 135 Air Carrier Operation and Part 145 Certified Maintenance Repair Station.
In addition to consecutive Diamond Awards, Papillon is the only aerial tour company serving Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon to achieve the IS-BAO (International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations) Stage Three designation.
This designation represents Papillon’s industry-leading standards for best safety practices. Granted by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), it recognizes Papillon for achieving the highest level of compliance within IBAC’s standards.

IBAC granted Papillon the prestigious designation following a rigorous, multi-year audit of its safety practices, safety reporting, dedication to ongoing improvement and overall safety-oriented company culture. Out of more than 6,000 eligible companies worldwide, only 280 aviation companies have achieved this progressive Stage Three designation.
“At Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters, our guests’ safety has and remains our number one priority,” says Brenda Halvorson, chief executive officer, Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters. “Our commitment to safety is reflected in the awards and certifications Papillon continues to receive and exemplifies the ongoing dedication of our world-class operations team.”
During the 19th Annual “Living Legends of Aviation Awards,” Brenda Halvorson received the “Elling Halvorson Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award.” Named after her late father and Papillon’s founder, this is the highest award honoring those specializing in rotorcraft, awarded by the Living Legends of Aviation, a group of aviation professionals of remarkable accomplishment that honors high achievement in the aerospace industry.
