Last week Michael Eimstad was appointed as the new CEO of EpiGuard, the company behind the EpiShuttle, a single patient isolation and transport system for safe and certified transport of contagious patients. The four-year veteran of the company previously held the position of VP Sales and Marketing.

Chairman of EpiGuard, Halvor Vislie, is pleased that the former head of sales and marketing has agreed to step into the role as CEO.

“The market for transport of contagious patients is maturing as customers gain a more thorough understanding of the importance of building and maintaining a solid national and international preparedness in this field,” said Vislie. “As industry leaders, the EpiGuard team has worked deliberately to evolve the market from fast-tracked small orders, placed to mitigate acute situations, to strategic purchases to build systematic readiness across the health care sector. Michael has been instrumental in this effort, and with our strategy now bearing fruit he is the natural choice as the company´s new CEO.”

Just recently, EpiGuard launched a new e-learning platform, EpiTraining, to further build knowledge, skills, and confidence on safe isolation and transport of infectious and contaminated patients. The platform, like the EpiShuttle, builds on firsthand experience from domain experts. EpiGuard’s professionals, who deal with diseases like Ebola, Covid, Monkeypox and Lassa fever as well as CBRNe contaminations, share their cumulative knowledge and experience on EpiTraining. Mr. Eimstad explains that it is this knowledge that constructs the very foundation of EpiGuard.

“It is an honor to take EpiGuard into its next chapter of expansion. Never before have our potential customers known more about isolation and transport. And, never before have decision makers been more aware of the need to prepare for pandemics. We have an unbeatable team of skilled coworkers ready to take on our task of making transport safe for healthcare professionals, patients, and society at large,” Eimstad said.

During Eimstad’s leadership of the sales team, EpiGuard has expanded into all continents. EpiShuttles are used by WHO as well as first responders in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Peru, Ireland, Greece, Norway, and Finland. Also, militaries in Belgium, Britain, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Norway and others are equipped with EpiShuttles. In the private sector you find EpiShuttles with companies like FAI Air Ambulance, Air Alliance Medflight, DRF Luftrettung, Keewatin Air, Luxembourg Air Rescue, Loganair and others.

“The board is confident that Michael’s extensive experience in complex sales processes and his long and dedicated tenure with the company is just what we need when moving into a new phase of EpiGuard’s growth,” Vislie concluded.
