Heli-One announced Leonardo has extended and expanded its support contract for the Norwegian All-Weather Search and Rescue Helicopter (NAWSARH) program.

Under the agreement, Heli-One will continue to deliver MRO services with Leonardo through 2030 for the fleet of AW101 SAR Queen helicopters operated by the Royal Norwegian Air Force.

The contract ensures the aircraft’s continued mission readiness to perform lifesaving operations in one of the world’s harshest environments.

With all 16 helicopters now fully delivered and stationed at bases across the country, the program is a benchmark for collaboration between government, OEM and MRO partners.

The contract keeps Heli-One’s highly skilled Norwegian maintenance specialists working with Leonardo staff, embedded at Royal Norwegian Air Force bases. There they perform maintenance and ensure the fleet’s 24/7 availability.

“We are delighted to further grow our successful relationship with Leonardo. Our team has decades of experience maintaining helicopters based in the North Sea and we are fully committed to applying our expertise in support of the AW101 SAR Queen,” said Carolyn Forsyth, general manager of sales & commercial, Heli-One.

Jens Morten Mørland, sales director, Heli-One, said: “We are incredibly proud of our work to support the mission readiness of the NAWSARH fleet. Having supported the Norwegian market for seven decades and leveraging the operational experience of our parent company CHC Helicopter, we have deep knowledge in maintaining helicopters for this demanding environment.

“This extended partnership with Leonardo reflects the trust placed in our local team and underscores our ability to keep aircraft operational in some of the world’s toughest conditions.”

Mark Goddard, head of customer service management, Leonardo U.K., said: “We are honored to support 330 squadron and the Royal Norwegian Air Force as they carry out life-saving search-and-rescue operations. Since the AW101 entered service in Norway, 330 Squadron has accumulated over 22,700 flight hours across 1,800 missions per year.

“These operations take advantage of the helicopter’s advanced capabilities and are underpinned by greater than 99 percent availability. Our association with the Norwegian defence sector goes back 50 years and our continued commitment to relationships with key suppliers such as Heli-One in Norway forms a cornerstone of our approach.”

Heli-One supports government and commercial operators worldwide with maintenance services for critical missions.
