Kawak Aviation, a provider of mission-critical utility aviation solutions, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has officially issued U.S. Patent No. 12,304,629 for the company’s groundbreaking Cascade Aerial Firefighting Bucket.
The Cascade Bucket represents a significant leap forward in aerial firefighting capabilities. Engineered for precision, reliability, and multi-drop functionality, the system allows operators to release water in controlled segments during flight—providing tactical flexibility that conventional buckets can’t match.
“This patent marks a pivotal moment for Kawak and the Cascade program,” said Andrew Sawyer, chief design officer at Kawak Aviation.
“It’s the result of years of problem-solving, testing, and close collaboration with operators in the field. More importantly, it secures the intellectual property behind a product we believe will help reshape how aerial firefighting missions are executed.”
The patent is the first of two filings associated with the Cascade Bucket technology, with a second patent currently under review. Together, these filings will provide robust IP protection as Kawak continues to expand its footprint in global firefighting markets.
With over 30 years of experience in the utility aviation industry, Kawak Aviation continues to pioneer specialized systems for aerial firefighting, agriculture, aircraft engine control, cargo conversion, and electric motor applications.
