After the HELP Appeal donated £100,000, Hereford County Hospital was able to build a new helipad in 2020.
Since then it has seen 126 landings from air ambulance crews including Midlands Air Ambulance.
The helipad replaced the hospital’s smaller one, to enable larger air ambulance helicopters to land directly at the hospital at any time, saving the time it takes for seriously ill patients to be transferred to the hospital for specialist treatment.
Robert Bertram, chief executive of the HELP Appeal, said:
“This helipad has proven repeatedly that it is playing a vital role in ensuring that critically ill patients are receiving treatment immediately after landing at hospital, making it indispensable in emergency situations.”
This press release was prepared and distributed by the HELP Appeal.
