ICARUS Devices announced that the first helicopter pilot trained with the ICARUS Device, Caitlin George, passed her instrument check ride. Caitlin flew at Michigan Helicopters with CFI Ben Tong.

Caitlin had this to say about ICARUS, “The device was very realistic. Transitioning from VFR to IFR is cool! It was easy to use since it simply clips on to a baseball cap. I also like how simple it is to switch between VFR to IFR just from the push of a button. You can’t see outside so it forces you to focus on the instruments. Definitely realistic. I also wear glasses when I fly and the device is very accommodating to that. It certainly blocks out my view of the outside better than those other devices on the market.”

Caitlin was already a CFI when she began her instrument training and said “I would want my students to train for a realistic situation. I definitely feel more prepared for real world IFR flying. I used the ICARUS Device on my instrument check ride and my DPE had no problem with it!”
