Estimated reading time 2 minutes, 49 seconds.

Electro.Aero announced the appointment of Dan Sloat as incoming company president.

In this new role, Sloat will lead the next phase of growth for the company’s global business: strengthening team culture, establishing the U.S. head office, ensuring continued legal compliance, and expanding business development opportunities.

Founder Joshua Portlock explained: “Electro.Aero has been hard at work servicing our electric aircraft customer needs for nearly a decade, diligently developing critical charging solutions in the background. With Dan Sloat coming onboard as our president, now is the time to be more public about what we’ve done and are planning to do in the near future to provide enabling technology to the AAM industry!”

As the first order of business, the team will be raising a Pre-Series A round after many years of efficient bootstrapping, utilizing some of this growth capital to target attractive near-term electric charging opportunities at current aerodromes and airports.

Sloat brings a wealth of leadership experience as founder of the Advanced Air Mobility Institute, advisor to the World Economic Forum AVIATE Committee, former CEO of an American vertiport company, and prior U.S. Air Force Captain where he earned a Humanitarian Service Medal.

He was named a top 100 electric aviation industry leader by eVTOL Insights Powerbook, along with Portlock, and awarded Community Engagement Team of the Year 2024.

“What always impressed me about Electro.Aero was the all-in commitment to safety and establishing robust industry standards. For example, Dr. Rudd, head of certification, already helped the company achieve ISO 9001 quality control and 14001 environmental certifications. And Richie Watson, the CCO, serves as chairman of the AE-7D Aircraft Energy Storage and Charging Committee to harmonize international efforts,” said Sloat.

“I am profoundly humbled to be entrusted with such responsibility, and I will work tirelessly to advocate for widespread accessibility in AAM operations. Electric charging infrastructure is the foundation.”
