EADS North America will have a strong presence at the Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) annual meeting and exposition in Washington, D.C. next week, underscoring the company’s broad range of capabilities in defense and homeland security. The UH-145, which was selected by the Army for its Light Utility Helicopter, will be showcased on the company’s stand at the Washington Convention  enter (Booth 315). On exhibit will be the aircraft used in the Army’s source selection performance demonstration.

The UH-145 is a version of the technologically-advanced and operationallyproven EC145 multi-mission helicopter, which is used worldwide for law enforcement, emergency medical transportation, search and rescue, offshore and utility operations, and corporate transport.

Also highlighted at AUSA will be the Team JCA C-295, which is the only battleproven and operational military transport aircraft in the competition for the Army and Air Force’s Joint Cargo Aircraft requirement. The C-295 is being offered by the Team JCA partnership of Raytheon and EADS CASA North America, which combines the companies’ production, mission support and logistics capabilities for the Joint Cargo Aircraft program. In September, Team JCA announced the establishment of a public-private partnership agreement with Letterkenny Army Depot in Pennsylvania to work on a comprehensive support solution logistics approach for the JCA mission requirements.

EADS North America’s AUSA exhibit stand will include a DT-35 subsonic aerial target, which was demonstrated to the U.S. Army’s Targets Management Office this summer during back-to-back missions at McGregor Range in New Mexico. The flights were part of an Army evaluation of low-cost subsonic, subscale aerial targets that can be used for weapon system training purposes. The DT-35 is in full production for NATO and allied military  orces, with an output capacity of up to 200 units per year. More than 150 training flights have been flown by DT-35s, including German Air Force operations for the training of Patriot surface-to-air missile crews. A scale model of the TransProtec multi-purpose shelter will be included in EADS North America’s display at AUSA. Designed for both fixed and mobile uses, the shelter provides protection for up to 18-20 soldiers, complete with their equipment and weapons. Truck-mounted TransProtec shelters are used by NATO allies in Afghanistan to transport personnel, shielding them against such threats as IEDs (improvised explosive devices), ballistic fire, anti-tank mines and shrapnel. The air conditioned and NBC-protected TransProtec is self-sufficient in operations of up to 10 hours, and is easily transportable by land, sea and air.
