Dallas Airmotive (DAI) continues to build the number and volume of component repair operations at its Lafayette, Louisiana facility. Already well known for its Rolls-Royce Model 250 component repair services for helicopter operators, the repair center is adding Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 and JT15D component repair capabilities during the fourth quarter of 2006.
“We are centralizing the repair of certain high volume, high technology components used by our three companies Dallas Airmotive, Premier Turbines and H+S Aviation,” commented Dallas Airmotive President and CEO Hugh McElroy. “Items such as combustors, stators, gearboxes and other key stationary components typically require heavy maintenance and special skills to repair them. By centralizing this work we can realize the benefits of economies of scale that will serve to reduce repair cost and increase repair options for our customers.”
The Lafayette facility is already equipped with the tools of a standard repair operation such as welding and machining, and is in the process of adding to its capabilities such items as plasma spray, vacuum brazing, shot-peening, and proprietary repair equipment. Lafayette maintains a common rotable pool for the rapid exchange of parts for servicing of customers directly at DAI overhaul facilities.
