The story began in 2011 in Neuchatel, Switzerland at a Robinson Helicopter Company safety course hosted by Tim Tucker. During the flight training with Tim, Claude took the opportunity to show him the Vortex Recovery Technique that Claude had used years ago during a rescue mission in the Swiss mountains.

Impressed by the technique, Tim Tucker went back to the United States and asked his pilots at Robinson Helicopter Company and other pilots to test the maneuver and give their in-depth opinions.

From here on, everything took its course. Since the technique can be used on all types of helicopters, a neutral name had to be found and Tim Tucker decided to give the maneuver the name of the inventor, this is how the name Vuichard Recovery Technique was created.

Today Claude Vuichard is travelling around the world, on his mission for zero vortex accidents and to spread the message for more safety in the Helicopter Industry globally.

For his tireless commitment for more safety in the industry, he was honored in 2018 with the Safety Award issued by the Helicopter Association International (HAI).

During the lecture “The Vuichard Recovery Technique: A Better Way Out of Vortex Ring State”, hosted by Helicopter Association International, Claude Vuichard, after more than 10 years of intense collaboration, thanked Tim Tucker for the prosperous cooperation and gave him a personally signed, beautiful picture from the vortex—movie, on behalf of all pilots and person who saved their life with the “Vuichard Recovery Technique.” Watch the video here.
