BETA grew its charging network by nearly 200% in 2024

Beta Technologies Press Release | January 7, 2025

Estimated reading time 5 minutes, 14 seconds.

Beta Technologies, an electric aerospace company based in Burlington, Vermont, expanded its electric charging network significantly in 2024, installing its chargers at 30 new sites.

With these additions, Beta’s network now includes 46 sites across 22 states – with 23 more sites in development for public and private use across the east, west, and gulf coasts.

The Beta-designed chargers are multimodal and interoperable, capable of powering electric aircraft and ground vehicles alike. They are also UL-certified following extensive safety inspection and testing, confirming compliance with industry and consumer standards.

The chargers utilize the Combined Charging Standard (CCS), which is endorsed by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association and has been adopted by top OEMs across the electric aviation industry.

These electric chargers will allow for the deployment of low-cost electric aircraft, which will unlock access for all types of communities across the country, from enabling air taxi services in urban areas to revitalizing regional airports for medical, e-commerce and longer-range passenger flights.

Stakeholders across the industry – including Archer Aviation, Signature Aviation Atlantic Aviation, AvFlight, the State of Michigan, regional and municipal airports, and U.S. government agencies – have purchased and installed Beta’s chargers as a way to power their programs or prepare for the future of electric aviation.

“As we electric aviation gets closer and closer to commercial operations, it becomes all the more critical that we have a robust and reliable charging network in place to support this emerging industry,” said Nate Ward, Beta’s Charge Network lead.

“From the outset, we had this idea of creating chargers that could support the entire industry, and over the course of the past year, we’ve seen that idea really begin to find traction. It’s been great to work with partners from across aviation to prepare for the collective future of electric aviation, and we look forward to continuing to ramp up our efforts in 2025.”

Beta has been building its network since 2020, and throughout 2024 the company more than doubled its network, bringing chargers online in 30 locations. Today Beta chargers are online and available for electric aircraft and ground vehicles in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia.

These locations are strategically placed to support the missions outlined by our customers and partners – as well as the needs of the broader AAM industry. As our network continues to expand, additional routes and use cases will continue to be unlocked.

In 2025, Beta plans to continue bringing additional chargers online in partnership with airports, FBOs, states, and OEM partners across the U.S., with an eye toward bringing increased functionality and access to both metropolitan and rural communities in the future.

Beta’s infrastructure development efforts will be expanding outside the U.S. in 2025 to support multiple international markets as well.

In addition to its permanent-installation charging solutions, Beta has also developed the MiniCube, a mobile solution designed for in-hangar use. With a smaller form factor and caster wheels for easy movement, the MiniCube is a high-utility, steady charge solution.

Beta is also manufacturing and certifying multiple all-electric aircraft – the CX300 ALIA CTOL and the A250 ALIA VTOL – with an eye toward entry into service in 2025 and 2026, respectively.

The company is manufacturing both vehicles in its nearly 200,000 square foot production facility in Vermont, where it recently rolled its first aircraft off the rate production line.

The company is preparing to begin delivery to customers, including global operators like UPS, Air New Zealand, United Therapeutics, Bristow, Blade, LCI, Helijet, Metro Aviation, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

This press release was prepared and distributed by Beta Technologies.
