Babcock International Group (Babcock) has secured a four-year contract extension with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA), reinforcing a long-standing partnership and continued commitment to delivering life-saving helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) across the region.

Babcock will continue to provide HIOWAA with a fully equipped Airbus H135 helicopter, featuring advanced night vision imaging system (NVIS) technology, comprehensive maintenance, aircraft safety and compliance, and highly skilled aviation personnel. The service will maintain its 19-hour daily operational capability, ensuring critical care reaches those in need – day or night.

As part of the contract extension, Babcock is supporting HIOWAA through its relocation to a new base of operations near Southampton Airport. This move will better position the charity to respond rapidly across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, enhancing its ability to save lives and serve the community more effectively.

Chloe Barker, Managing Director for Babcock’s UK Aviation business, said: “This service provides an essential lifeline to communities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, ensuring rapid access to critical care in the most urgent and challenging circumstances.

“Continuing our relationship with HIOWAA reflects the strength of our 18-year partnership and our shared commitment to delivering excellence in emergency medical aviation.

“As HIOWAA transitions to a new location, we’re working closely with them to ensure continuity of service and enhanced operational readiness. We’re honoured to continue supporting HIOWAA in their vital mission.”

Richard Corbett, chief executive officer at HIOWAA, added: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Babcock, whose expertise and commitment have been integral to our operations for nearly two decades. Their support during our transition to a new base has been invaluable, ensuring we will maintain seamless service and continue to respond to those who need us most. We look forward to building on this strong relationship as we enter the next chapter of our lifesaving work.”
