Astronautics partnering with Nova Systems on secure airborne mission system

Astronautics Corporation of America Press Release | March 3, 2023

Estimated reading time 2 minutes, 59 seconds.

Astronautics Corporation of America and Nova Systems are partnering on an airborne C4ISR mission systems solution which will enter initial operational service with AW139 helicopters deployed on a search and rescue and airborne law enforcement role with a European customer.  Astronautics’ AeroSync Max wireless airborne communication system will provide avionics and mission data routing, and security controls for managing data between the mission system and the aircraft avionics.

Astronautics’ AeroSync Max is a secure and integrated wireless data transmission system that automatically provides high-speed data connectivity, securely enabling flight, mission, and maintenance data gateway applications for both new and retrofitted aircraft.

AeroSync acts as a secure data gateway between mission systems and avionics.  In addition, an optional wireless access point with internet access is available to support mission-related use cases.

“Astronautics is a proud partner supporting Nova with mission capabilities for the C4IR system,” said Astronautics Director of Connected Aircraft Solutions Matt Frei.  “Our AeroSync Max will provide critical mission data and security needed to support life-saving search and rescue efforts.”

”We are certainly pleased to partner with Astronautics.  The AeroSync Max product is a fundamental part of our mission system solution that allows connectivity between mission equipment and aircraft avionics,” said Cher Min Teo, General Manager Aerospace Capability, Nova Systems.  “We are confident that together we can deliver enhanced operational capabilities to our customer.”

Astronautics has delivered AeroSync Max units to Nova Systems to support current ground tests in a systems integration laboratory.  Flight tests are planned for April, with entry into service expected in late 2023.

More information regarding Astronautics’ AeroSync Max solutions will be available at the Astronautics booth during HAI Heli-Expo, March 6-9, in Atlanta, Georgia.

During the show, Astronautics will host AeroSync demonstrations at its Booth B4808, highlighting air ambulance, law enforcement/search and rescue, and executive transport use cases.
