ARC Aerosystems announced a letter of intent (LOI) with Ecojet to purchase 20 LINX P9 aircraft, with options for an additional 30, highlighted on the opening day of the Farnborough Airshow.
This structured LOI incorporates pre-delivery payments (PDP) based on the agreed milestones.
This strategic partnership is driven by a shared commitment to innovative and sustainable aviation. The LINX P9 is a compound gyroplane that leverages modern technology to bring a concept originally developed in the mid-20th century to life.
The aircraft is capable of taking off and landing vertically like helicopter, yet during cruise, flies much like a conventional plane, with the top rotor being unpowered.
The unique characteristics of the gyroplane result in a significant reduction in fuel consumption. Its design enables it to remain in a constant state of autorotation, enhancing both safety and stability during flight and increasing the range of the aircraft significantly.
The LINX P9 supports Ecojet’s mission to pioneer the electrification of transportation, aiming for operational launch in 2024. This agreement is a key step towards a sustainable future whilst enhancing UK connectivity.
“Through this partnership with Ecojet, we are shaping the future of aviation with sustainable, innovative solutions,” said Seyed Mohseni, CEO of ARC Aerosystems.
Dale Vince, Green industrialist and Founder of Ecoject said: “We’re planning to take intercity travel to new heights with ARC Gyrocopters. Not only will these aircraft be emission free they’ll enable us to connect towns and cities across the U.K. without the need for an airport. The Linx aircraft are unique, they take off and land vertically like a helicopter but fly like a conventional plane. The green industrial revolution is here, it’s not just going to enable the things we already do to be done in a net zero way it’s going to enable a whole new approach to things like travel.”
This potential order of up to 50 aircraft reflects the ambition and scope of the collaboration, indicating significant future expansion.
