Alain M. Bellemare Named President, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Executive Vice President, Pratt & Whitney Strategy & Development

Pratt & Whitney president Steve Finger announced that Alain M. Bellemare will take on additional responsibility as executive vice president, Pratt & Whitney Strategy and Development effective April 1. Bellemare will retain his current role as President, Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC). Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.

“Throughout his career at P&WC, Alain has distinguished himself as a strong leader who delivers exceptional results,” said Steve Finger, Pratt & Whitney president. “His broad knowledge and understanding of the aerospace industries and global business provide the necessary skills and experience to position Pratt & Whitney for the future.”

In his expanded new role, Bellemare will lead the strategic planning and business development initiatives supporting Pratt and Whitney’s short and long term business growth objectives. Bellemare, 45, will continue to report directly to Steve Finger, 58. “I am very excited about this new challenge and look forward to taking a larger role in achieving Pratt & Whitney’s growth objectives,” said Bellemare.

John Saabas, 47, executive vice president, Pratt & Whitney Canada will assume increased responsibility to lead P&WC’s day-to-day operations at the company’s headquarters located in Longueuil, Canada.

Bellemare joined Pratt & Whitney Canada as vice president, manufacturing in October 1996, was named executive vice president in June 2001, and appointed president in June 2002. Prior to joining Pratt & Whitney Canada, Bellemare spent more than 12 years in a variety of engineering and manufacturing positions with Kraft Canada and Crown Cork & Seal Canada. Bellemare holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sherbrooke and an MBA from McGill University in Montreal.

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines. United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and building industries.

P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters. The company also offers advanced engines for industrial applications. P&WC’s operations and service network span the globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX), a high-technology company based in Hartford, Connecticut.
