Entrol has upgraded the multi-crew interoperability capable flight simulators belonging to the Spanish Police to incorporate a high-resolution database, equipped with a long-range FLIR camera, an improved vibration system, six full high-definition projectors, and a spherical visual display system with an aspect view of 200 x 70 degrees.

Sales director for Entrol Simulators, Nacho Navacerrada said: “This project is an important achievement for us, as we can see how the confidence in FTD devices increases due to their high quality. We also want to thank the Spanish Police for their trust in our products. They keep on trusting us for their simulator solutions after 14 years of cooperation.”

It was back in July 2021 that The Council of Ministers in Spain approved the order with Airbus for 18 H135s for the Spanish Interior and Defence Ministries respectively, and four H160s for the Interior Ministry.

The Interior Ministry H135 purchase was intended to replace the Bo105 and Bk117 fleet some of which date back to the mid-1970s. In 2021 there were eight 105s and nine 117s in service with the Spanish Policia, Guardia Civil and the Spanish Customs. The Interior Ministry budget for the fleet upgrading is spread over 2021-25 and totals 222 million Euros for the aircraft and 39 million for “implementation”, which at the time did not specify what this included. It’s now presumed that the simulator upgrading is part of this.

An agreement between the Spanish Government and Airbus provides an option for a further 23 H135s.
