An established operator of business jets and helicopters, Luxaviation Group holds 10 air operator certificates (AOCs) across Europe, with hundreds of aircraft under management.

Under their agreement, Luxaviation Group will become responsible for parts of the regional air mobility operations being developed by Lilium, including securing necessary approvals and managing pilots, who will be trained under a type rating concept to be developed by Lufthansa Aviation Training. Lilium is creating the digital platform for the passenger transportation service, which it aims to start in 2024.

“This marks a key milestone as we prepare for launch, and we look forward to working together to provide an exceptional airline service for our passengers,” Lilium chief operating officer Remo Gerber stated in a press release.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by Lilium to be their partner in aircraft operations. As an early believer in advanced air mobility, we look forward to bringing our experience and credentials to the partnership with Lilium and building out a service that will truly feel like a first of its kind,” added Christophe Lapierre, head of strategy of Luxaviation Group.

Lilium has already announced plans for launch networks in Germany through partnerships with Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn airports in North Rhine-Westphalia, and Munich and Nuremberg airports in Bavaria.
