A new survey to gauge the extent of fatigue among those working in the Canadian helicopter industry has been launched, with the aim of helping the industry better understand the fatigue-related challenges it faces.
The survey, recently launched and open for the next few weeks, seeks input from chief pilots, pilots, operations managers, safety managers, and others involved in Canadian helicopter operations under CARs 702, 703 and 704.
It has been created by Fernando Sucre, a graduate student specializing in Aviation Safety at the University of North Dakota, and focuses on fatigue risk management.
The survey is anonymous and takes about 10 minutes to complete, said Sucre. Participant do not need to provide their name, their employers name, aircraft registration or other direct identifiers.
“Responses will be analyzed and reported in aggregate form, and open-ended comments will be de-identified,” said Sucre.
“Broader participation would help strengthen the data and better identify fatigue-related challenges across the Canadian helicopter industry.”
