Airbus Helicopters has received certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for the EC145 T2. U.S. deliveries of the aircraft, which is the latest version of the four metric ton EC145, are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter this year, with an unnamed VIP customer and Dare County EMS the first operators to receive the new type.
The EC145 T2, which was on display at Helitech International 2014 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, this week, received certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency in April this year, and the first delivery – to DRF Luftrettung – took place in July.
Enhancements incorporated in the EC145 T2 include new Turbomeca Arriel 2E engines and a Fenestron shrouded tail rotor, along with upgraded main and new tail rotor gear boxes, and a Helionix digital avionics suite with four-axis autopilot.
The manufacturer has booked more than 100 orders for the aircraft.
