The companies announced on Wednesday that they have been partnering since January to conduct joint studies to examine the technical, economical, and adaptable feasibility of Eve’s aircraft. The study will run until the end of the year, the companies said.

“This partnership will strengthen Eve’s position as a leading player in the global market and our commitment to delivering an effective and sustainable new mode of urban transportation,” said Andre Stein, co-CEO of Eve. “Embraer is a leading player in aviation in Brazil and globally, and has partnered with Thales for more than 30 years, and now Eve will leverage this partnership, too.”

Eve will tap into Thales’ team in São José dos Campos and São Bernardo do Campo in Brazil, as well as Thales’ engineers from France, Canada, and the U.S.

Along with being one of Eve’s investors, Thales is also working with Airbus to develop its CityAirbus NextGen eVTOL aircraft.

As Eve continues to advance its five-seat aircraft, the eVTOL developer is preparing to merge with special purpose acquisition company Zanite Acquisition Corp. Zanite’s shareholders are meeting on May 6 to vote on the business combination.
