A day after revealing that it has obtained Transport Canada approval to flight test its EHang 216 in Quebec, the Chinese eVTOL developer EHang has announced plans to build a new production facility in Yunfu city, Guangdong, China.
According to a press release, the Yunfu facility has a planned initial annual capacity of 600 units and an RMB42 million (approximately US$6 million) investment supported by the local government. EHang said it aims to establish an “industry-leading” autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) production center, including a research and development facility for air mobility solutions and a technical and operations training center.
The Deputy Mayor of Yunfu city, Donghong Shi, attended a launch ceremony for the facility, reportedly commenting on its potential “to bring strong vitality to the local high-tech communities and create hundreds of new jobs for local talents.”
“The increasing market demands and commercialization of AAVs in China are driving us to expand our production and upgrade our manufacturing capabilities,” stated EHang founder and CEO Huazhi Hu. “The EHang Yunfu facility serves as an expansion of our existing facility and will support the growth of our air mobility business in China.”
EHang announced last year that it had selected its home city of Guangzhou, China, as its first pilot city for the creation of a low-altitude aviation transportation network. The company has also been pursuing various aerial tourism projects throughout China.

I can’t wait to see this amazing VTOL change the way we travel. VTOLs will only get better as battery technology improves and 5G communication infrastructure is finalized.
