The Air Medical Journal Associates (AMJA) has pledged a $10,001 donation to MedEvac Foundation International,TM bringing it into the Foundation’s elite Benefactor circle of $10,000-plus donors. AMJA’s donation will be dedicated exclusively to supporting industry research and to encouraging content submission for the Air Medical Journal, the official publication of the nation’s five leading air-medical transport associations.

“The AMJA group voted overwhelmingly to provide funding to MedEvac Foundation International at our recent Air Medical Transport Conference meeting,” said AMJA Immediate Past President Kevin High, RN, MPH. “The education, research and evidence-based practice initiatives funded by the MedEvac Foundation are vital to the air medical community’s future.”

“We applaud AMJA for its generous donation,” said MedEvac Foundation International Chair Kevin Hutton, MD. “This funding goes a long way toward achieving the Foundation’s research goals, which include disseminating study findings to the global medical-transport and EMS communities through the renowned Air Medical Journal.”

Research and education projects that have received MedEvac Foundation International grant funding in 2009 include an educational webinar on ambulance ground-transfer safety, studies assessing cognitive fatigue in pilots and air-medical crews, and research on the use of ultrasound stroke treatment in helicopter transport.

Air Medical Journal, which focuses on transport medicine, is the official journal of the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association, Air Medical Physician Association, Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), National EMS Pilots Association, and International Association of Flight Paramedics.
