Utilities Project Manager

Summary
The Operations Project Manager coordinates with Operations and is responsible for providing support with Utilities projects including organizing and supervising remote operations. The Utilities Project Manager travels to field locations and provides feedback to the Director of Operations on safety, living and morale conditions of the crew. This includes communicating with YHL flight crews and clients regarding operational requirements / difficulties encountered, including flight safety issues that are job specific.
Job Duties
- As a YHL Project Manager you are expected to have commitment to Yellowhead Helicopters’ mission and core values, building on our culture of safety, integrity, client focus and continuous improvement
- Research and identify potential clients within the Utilities industry
- Develop impactful relationships with customers and work strategically with the DOO and Marketing to satisfy the client requirements while ensuring profitability
- This position holds no signing authority to bind the Company; therefore all prepared bids and contracts must be reviewed and signed by either the CEO or CFO
- Ensure Utilities contracts and bids are prepared with a professional image and in line with corporate direction, maximizing value and reducing cost and providing reasonable time for review by CEO or CFO
- Provide coaching and mentoring with insight and influence to Pool Pilots working on Utilities projects
- Attend relevant events, conferences, and meetings pertaining to the Utilities clients and YHL as assigned by the CEO as a representative of, and acting in best faith of, the Company. Attendance of conferences or events and membership in non-CEO-approved associations or committees will be done so at personal risk and expense.
- Liase as required between Utilities clients and Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd.
- Organize, support, and coordinate operations of Utilities clients with Pilots, Engineers, and Engineer Supervisors on an ongoing basis
- Be on site at client location as required.
- Work with the Operations & Maintenance to plan, maintain, and meet client requirements for aircraft, crewing, logistics, and updated schedules.
- Arrange resources required for Utilities client projects (fuel, vehicles, trailers, accomodaitons, etc)
- Provide updates, bring forward issues, and maintain clarity and transparency about the client and crew satisfaction with the CEO, DOO, DOM, and any other necessary management.
- Work with the On-site pilots and AMEs to maintain day to day operations, ie (important updates, meetings, extra training needed, crew needs, and ground crew operations)
- Work with the training department to plan, and facilitate effective and efficient use of training period for new and recurrent Pilots working on Utilities projects with the goal of having more pilots approved to work on BC Hydro and similar jobs.
- Expected to maintain on the BC Hydro approval list to be a pilot on BC Hydro jobs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A well rounded knowledge of the Canadian Commercial Helicopter industry.
- Extensive operational helicopter pilot experience (commercial).
- A good understanding of BC Hydro and other Utilities operating procedures with regards to helicopter services.
- Be a BC Hydro approved pilot.
- Able to work with little or no supervision.
