Selkirk Mountain Helicopters: Operations Manager

Selkirk Mountain Helicopters Ltd. is looking for a dedicated and ambitious candidate to take on the position of Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will be skilled at developing long-term operational strategies, working closely with senior management to ensure the integration of strategic plans into the ongoing day-to-day operations management. This position will prioritize safety and efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring safe flight operations throughout the organization, through effective operational management & control, policy & standard development and crew resource management.
  • Overseeing and directing major resource and workforce issues for the organization.
  • Allocating all aircraft and personnel to fulfill customer requests in conjunction with the Accountable Executive, Chief Pilot, the Director of Maintenance, and Line Pilots.
  • Operational crew scheduling that complies with flight and duty time regulations.
  • Liaising with customers to ensure exceptional service and customer satisfaction.
  • Managing, motivating and mentoring operational personnel.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment between operations and maintenance to ensure an integrated approach to operations.
  • Sourcing out and bidding on contracts.
  • The supervision of and the production and amendments of the Company Operations Manual
  • Liaison with regulatory authority on all matters concerning flight operations including any variations to the Air Operator Certificate.
  • Ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with current regulations, standards and air operator policy.
  • Developing or improving internal processes and procedures to enhance company efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Commercial Pilot License and/ or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
  • A minimum of two (2) years with an air operator of a Commercial Air Service whose flight operations are similar in size and scope.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related management and/or supervisory experience.
  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position and a confirmed negative Pre-Employment Drug Test is a requirement for employment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • In depth knowledge of relevant Transport Canada Acts and Regulations.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge to the Minister of Transport with respect to the content of the Company Operations Manual, the Air Operator Certificate and operations specifications, the provisions of the regulations, and the standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities to ensure safety.
  • Company Aviation Safety Officer (CASO) course certification (or the intention of completing a CASO course within 12 months of being hired).
  • Excellent communication skills needed to support shared management responsibilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent office & organizational skills.
  • Effective time management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines with accuracy and confidence.
  • Team player that can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with crew scheduling would be considered an asset.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Commercial Pilot License and/ or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
  • A minimum of two (2) years with an air operator of a Commercial Air Service whose flight operations are similar in size and scope.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Previous Operations Manager and/ or Director of Operations experience is considered an asset.

Salary negotiable based on experience.
