Deputy #8211; Aircraft Pilot $51,728.00 – $80,287.00 Certified Law Enforcement only. Hiring Incentives:* Starting pay based on experience* $2,600 – $5,200 annual flight stipend* Additional 10% pay increase upon completion of field trainingMust have three (3) of more years Certified Law Enforcement experience toreceive the following:* Signing bonus = $3,000* Relocation Stipend to Pinellas County up to $3,000 Preference and additional compensation will be given to candidates with thefollowing qualifications:-1500 hours PIC helicopter-1000 hours PIC turbine helicopter ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Maintain a current class II medical certificate, per FAR Part 67;* Maintain a current Commercial FAA Rotorcraft/Helicopter Pilot Certificate;* Act as a Tactical Flight Officer to include the operation of associatedcameras and law enforcement mission equipment* Ensure airworthiness of the aircraft before flight;* Flight planning and preparation, including preflight inspections of aircraftand equipment;* As Pilot In Command (PIC), exercise final responsibility and authority forthe safety of aircraft, personnel and equipment during flight operations;* Maintain current awareness of all pertinent agency requirements, FAAregulations and other regulatory data bearing on the performance of theirduties;* Post flight inspection, to include refueling; KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* Knowledge of professional commercial General Aviation aircraft operations andbest practices;* Knowledge of law enforcement aviation support principles;* Knowledge of aviation safety and risk management applications to publicsafety air support services;* Ability to work with complex technical electronics such as aircraft mountedthermal cameras and searchlights, various radio systems and aviation tacticalmapping software;* Background and comfort operating with aviator Night Vision Goggles;* Knowledge of basic law enforcement patrol operations, principles and laws; The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office strives to provide our employees with the best benefits possible.
