The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Air Support Unit operates in one of the most unique public safety environments in the United States, supporting patrol and rescue operations across more than 8,000 square miles of Clark County. Serving a resident population of nearly three million — and up to 40 to 50 million visitors each year — the unit routinely responds to emergencies ranging from police pursuits on the Strip to mountain rescues and boating incidents on Lake Mead. Its fleet includes three MD 530F helicopters, an Airbus H125, and a hoist-equipped Airbus H145 used for demanding search-and-rescue missions in the region’s high-and-hot desert terrain.
